New era for golf

I'm ready for a new era in golf. It seems like forever since one could read a story about golf without a certain player being mentioned. At first it was he was winning or how he was coming from behind or how he intimitated other golfers, and then it was how he had cheated on his wife, and then how poorly he was playing and now how bad he feels. Win, lose, draw, playing, not playing, it didn't matter, somehow a sports writer had to make the golf story about him.

Before him there were golfers who dominated but not just one at a time: Snead, Palmer, The Big Bear and the competition was fun to watch. But with one guy and then everyone else, not so much.

No, I haven't anything against someone or a team being exceptionally good at their job or profession and winning often but if another player won, the story was not about the winner but about the one everyone thought would win. It's like "Yea, he won but he wouldn't haveif the favorite had played up to his potential. he was hurt, or whatever excuse could be found to fit to tarnish the win for the victor.

If the favorue won, no where in a story would be mentioned the fact that the 17th ranked player finished 25th, but Lordy if the 17th ranked player won, the story would not be about him this time either but about the number 1 ranked player not winning.

It's like eating to much cadny; its good but toomuch makes one sick.
